Research on methods for the production of polymers and nano textile fibers and their use in cleaning utensils (Nanofatex) in cooperation with the University in Marburg.
Near-Field Electro Spinning Machine
As part of the research project “Nanofatex”, the Eckhard Polman GmbH was partner in the areas of design, construction and manufacturing of a laboratory facility for the production of nanofibers using Near-Field Electro spinning. Focus was the elaboration of procedural options for achieving the finest nanofiber.
Construction:
- Used industrial robot: Double synchronous portal robot
- Drive concept: Diverse electrical and/or pneumatic dryve systems together with electrical controls were used.
- Control concept: By continous path control realised arbitrary traversingsat with at least two simultanously controlled axes.
- Additional needed systems: Among other things electronical distance measurement, initiators, limit switches, Reed-contacts, light barriers , potentiometers as well as aluminum construction kit profiles and special build mechanical parts for the seating of different electro spinning poles and for the overall construction.
Conclusion:
With the developed laboratory system, through various experiments, it was possible to draw conclusions about creating polymer fibers via Near-Field Electro spinning.In achieving finer nanofibers different approaches were used. By trying to modify the source material, in addition of new polymers, various additives were processed. It became clear, that the viscosity has a direct influence on creating finest nanofibers.
Various modifications have been made to the system. Several parameters and settings were tested. Doing so influences and problems emerged which were not initially in the field of view.
Due to the rendered commitment as well as for the used and newly learned expert knowledge, the whole research project was a big success for the Eckhard Polman GmbH. Newly developed methods of operations together with the sustainable realisation of the tasks are reflected in the whole company since then.
